Exercise and A Gift
I found something magic!!!
Well, I found it a while ago, but never used it. Until recently when I decided it was time I begin doing legitimate workouts again. You know, new year, new resolutions type of thing?
I had been exercising regularly all throughout quarantine but not HIIT type of workouts that I find so effective…those had slid off my radar. I decided it was time to get back to it—but —Im not gonna lie. I was avoiding it because I just knew how painful it would be afterwards. You all know what I’m talking about. That “Oh dear lord, someone please help me on and off the toilet” type of phenomena ….yeah, that. I didn’t want to do that. It hurts—for days.
I decided I had been procrastinating for far too long and finally took the plunge. The first workout will be the worst and it will get better from there I kept repeating to myself. After 50 minutes of sweat and swearing I was done! WHEW!!! I felt so good! I even did some post workout yoga stretches to cool down. “Yeah, this is good” I thought to myself. “It will be ok” I kept thinking….
Fast forward 8 hours and I could feel the lactic acid accumulation in my muscles, the fatigue, the beginning of post workout hell. I was about to really start whining and then I had a thought! “Hey! I have something that may just do the trick here!”
In my cabinet of goodies (yes you read that right. Not a shelf inside a cabinet, I utilize the entire cabinet) I found what I was looking for.
There, way in the back, inside a small little bottle, was my saving grace…..ENZYMES!!!
I had kept them on hand for any injury (varsity softball season is just beginning- woohoo!!), or for a sore dancer after an intensive pointe class, or a middle aged mom deciding to get back on the workout train.
They are designed to be taken on an empty stomach and these amazing little tablets help to break down inflammation in soft tissue. So once I remembered having them I thought- lets try it for post workout soreness! And, wouldn’t you know, after taking them consistently (on an empty stomach), the mild soreness did not increase to full blown- I CANT MOVE syndrome….hooray!
I was somewhat skeptical- will the pain get worse? Will this REALLY work?
A few days later and I am proud to say- I will keep these amazing little magic tablets around- for whatever comes up!
Just another note on enzymes. They are also indicated for joint pain associated with arthritic conditions. They work by breaking down the immune complexes that form and get stuck in the joint spaces. Visualize it like this— you know how you see a river or stream and there are these little collections of trash along side the river in these eddy like off shoots? Well, the trash collecting in the eddies are the immune complexes that get stuck in the joints. The joints are not areas of high circulatory flow if you will and the immune complexes get stuck and thats how inflammation begins in the joints. Taking these enzymes on an empty stomach consistently will help decrease the immune complexes and therefore decrease inflammation!
